  Dental UCR Table/Dental Fees 2009
"One of the best ANNUAL investments I made for my practices was Dr. Dell Webb's Dental UCR Fee Analyzer Kit. It's one of the FIRST and most "Slam Dunk" Gems I URGE with coaching clients to grab!" Dr Tom Orent.

This information is referred to by different offices using different names: UCR Table - Dental Fee Analyzer - Dental Fees List - it is the same thing, it is the legitimate source of all the dental fees, by zip code area, with 5 percentiles. Set dental fees based on knowledge, fact and certainty. Know exactly what the dental insurance companies are paying. Its the real thing, not our fees and not a survey of dental fees. Call 1.877.628.3366 to order yours today.  Learn why using a survey to set your fees can harm your practice. And no, your software doesn't compile the UCR. It compiles a mirror of your charges, which are likely below UCR!

Your dental fees in dental hygiene are critical as most offices see more patients in hygiene per day than any other department. Most offices lose tons of money every day because the latest and best dental codes aren't used. Are you using these dental codes every day? D0170 and D1080? Nobody has time to learn the new codes, they're too busy working on a "loss leader". Protect yourself from litigation. This Dental Hygiene Coding Kit is critical. Audio-CD makes e-z listening, e-z learning. See the Dental Town link about law suits and loss of license. Click on "learn more" and see how Woody has used it.

DELTA DENTAL

Copy of e-Mail TO Dr Webb: docwebb@hotmail.com or uwli@hotmail.com Hello, I have ordered your UCR table before (it has been a few years however). When I tried to raise my fee's to the 80th percentile, with Delta, they would not allow most of them. I am willing to purchase again, I appreciate your service, but how do I deal with Delta. I had an associate for some time and he had higher fee schedule than I and he was only out of school 7yrs. I on the other hand have been out of school 20 yrs. I don't understand????????Please help!
Thanks, G.

Dr Webb's Reply (actually, I didn't think about posting it until after I sent it, but the following is close.) The answer to your question is contained in the question. You have submitted low fees in the past and not updated as often as possible. Delta then holds you to your old range, mainly because you don't persist in raising  or updating your fees. Submit, submit, submit. Find out, to the day, when you can submit again and do it. The new doctor started out higher, they accepted the fees as within their range...KEY POINT, your fees weren't rejected for being too high, but for waiting and then submitting too big of an increase. Vote early and often! The $300 for the UCR table is nothing. You lose more than $300 every day, because of your outdated low fees! Get the table as often as you need it. Update as often as you can. It means tens of thousands of dollars in a year, and they all go to the bottom line!

Delta MA upgrades fees 2X/year: Delta Dental Plan of Massachusetts updates dentist fee profiles twice a year on April 1st and October 1st. Fees reported on claims by the dentist or group ...www.deltamass.com/dentists/faqs

What did we learn?

  1. It didn't work the way he wanted it to so he stopped updating. That only makes it worse!
  2. Other dentists, maybe in the same office, are being paid better by Delta because they submitted better fees in the first place.
  3. Submit early and submit often.
  4. You gain nothing by waiting. Nothing.
  5. Today would be a great day to start your updates

PS. Your contract with Delta Dental Insurance does not require you to charge all patients your reduced Delta fees! You can and should use your non-discounted dental fees for your non-Delta patients. Remember, you gave Delta a huge discount in order to refer patients to you. Your regular dental fees should not be as low as your discounted fees.

"Adding TENS of THOUSANDS of Dollars in Extra PURE PROFIT Without Ever Lifting a Finger!"

by Dr. Tom "The Gems Guy" Orent
www.GemsInsidersCircle.com

"MASSIVE PROFITABILITY is the ELUSIVE 'Holy Grail' of dental practice.
We strive (as we should) to perfect our clinical skills, and yet our business sense most often falls short.
At age 36 I came within 3 short (scary) days of filing bankruptcy. By age 46 I'd socked away more than enough wealth from practice that I was able to sell both of my practices and could have retired. For good.  One of the key strategies I employed and now recommend to my clients is to always know exactly where your prices fall with respect to the other guys in your town.

Pricing GEM #1:
"the Deadly Middle".  Setting your fees anywhere in the middle is one of the most common and costly business mistakes you can make.  Folks will go to the cheapest if they are looking simply to save a buck.  TOUGH way to make a living... but I suppose if your ONLY goal were to increase patient flow...

Then there are folks who will go to those at the TOP of the price scale 'cause they're looking for the BEST QUALITY.  No, top price doesn't guarantee the quality of your dentistry.  But the public's perception assumes it's so! (NOTE:  Even if using top pricing as a strategy, be sure to keep new patient exam, and recall exam, x-rays and prophies no higher than the 80th percentile of your neighborhood!)

Pricing GEM #2: "Equilibrate Your Fees".
Regardless of what percentile you choose to follow, if you don't "internally equilibrate" your fees, you're FLUSHING TENS of THOUSANDS of DOLLARS down the toilet year in and year out.  Let's say you're comfortable e.g. with being at the 88th percentile.  If you don't reexamine how every one of your fees relates to your local colleagues' it's very likely you'll "think" you're at the 88th but end up with one or two KEY services SUBSTANTIALLY UNDER PRICED for NO REASON! E.g., if your crown and bridge were accidentally at the 78th percentile, 10% lower than you intended, you might be
losing 75.00 for EVERY inlay, onlay, crown and bridge unit you do.  Let's say you prepped 15 units (of all types) each week, or 750 per year...
your 10% error translates into a $56,250.00 hemorrhage each year!

One of the best ANNUAL investments I made for my practices was Dr. Dell Webb's Dental UCR Fee Analyzer Kit. It's one of the FIRST and most "Slam Dunk" Gems I URGE with coaching clients to grab!

And since your patients really have no clue exactly when (or usually even how much!) you've raised your fees, I invented the "Extra Year of Profit" strategy... a GEM which will LITERALLY pay you ONE WHOLE EXTRA YEAR's FEE  INCREASE PROFITS once every six years!  How's it work?  Simple.  Raise your fees every 10 months, instead of once a year... you'll advance by 2 extra months for each increase.  After about 6 years you'll have INVISIBLY sneaked in ONE MORE YEAR's FEE increase!

Thanks for your continuing massive contributions dentistry.

warm regards,
tom

Dental Codes and Dental Coding Create Profit Margins, which are as critical as your crown margins.

The front desk person often is unfamiliar with the intimate details of dental procedures at the chair, yet you ask her to do all the dental coding for the insurance company. Millions drop through the crack. From my own practice: we did an endo RE-TREATMENT and I watched my own staff person code in endo treatment dental codes. That would have cost me my profit margin on that dental procedure. Simply coding dental exams or dental evaluations incorrectly is costing you enough to pay your kids college expenses each year. (Or yours). Dental codes and dental coding are the financial communication language. If you don't bill the dental insurance correctly, you could end up being paid zero for your hard work. There is no room for error here. Consider the front desk's profit margins to be as critical to your success as your crown margins.

Schizophrenic Octopus -    They say that it takes a stressed-out schizophrenic octopus to run the front desk of a dental office.

De-Stressing her may de-stress the whole office. Get her some training and the tools she needs to successfully, PROFITABLY, manage your  dental practice.

A happy front-desk person is much easier to work with than a stressed-out schizophrenic octopus, don't you agree? We've talked to thousands of them, and the all tell us that talking about money, dental fees, is the most stressful part of their job. Help her learn how to discuss your dental fees in a casual, friendly, manner. If she knows what percentile your fees represent, she can explain how your  dental fees are fair fees. Submitting dental insurance codes is your communication with the dental insurance companies. Get it right the first time! Get the Combo, and get started on taking control of your dental practice.

Dental Fee Survey Dental fee survey is a common term. People who call to order ask for a dental fee survey very often. While the term dental fee survey is acceptable, the use of one is not. Don't use a dental fee survey. A survey is, well a survey. A dental fee survey is not based on actual claims. Creating a dental fee survey that was accurate for the area described by the first three digits of the zip code and represented all the dentists in the United States would be a multimillion, perhaps billion dollar project. Dental fee surveys do not have access to the actual claims data, and they won't tell you what they did use. Dental insurance companies don't use a dental fee survey, neither should you. So, use the term dental fee survey when you call, and we will treat you very well. Don't risk the loss of patients, which occurs if you under charge or over charge. Would you trust your financial future to a dental fee survey?

How will Delta Dental handle the new codes? Sounds like you need the Complete Coding Resource manual. This isn't a book you read, this is a coding book that saves your bottom when the patient or insurance company wants more information about a charged code. The re-wording of each procedure, to make it patient friendly so they will buy - doctors have paid the price of the book to get that list. It was a bargain. Together with the other kits, you have  a comprehensive yet easy-to-use set of tools that seamlessly integrate highly profitable management, communications, and coding techniques. With the Complete Combo, experienced and novice front office managers can implement these superior techniques easily, quickly and affordably.

The most experienced will enjoy the added power and flexibility found in one place. Skills typically learned only in multiple seminars over multiple years, at a cost of thousands of dollars and many lost office hours, will be learned quickly with this system.
